Rechargeable battery – save money, go green

One of the easiest ways to improve your environmental performance, and save money while you’re doing it, is to switch to using rechargeable batteries for a wide range of household gadgets such as cameras or radios.

After the initial financial outlay of buying the new batteries themselves along with the right charger, your only expense is a small amount for the electricity it takes to charge them up. As a result, you steadily save what you would have been spending on disposables.

An added bonus is that you need never find yourself running out of battery life when miles from the nearest shop!

And you won’t have the polluting effects of disposable batteries on your conscience either. So – the rechargeable battery wins, no contest!

Gas Tariffs Set to be Cut

Found it quite interesting this week how the press reported the cut in gas prices by the so-called ‘Big 6′ energy suppliers.

A mix of outrage and disbelief sums it up, with many in the press angered and pointing out the sheer cheek of the energy suppliers to finally pass on savings in the cost of gas to their customers after the winter months had passed and in the week that, for many in the UK, spring arrived.

For me, this act was hardly surprising. We’re used to the energy companies doing what they want in a bid to make profit and, frankly, until the regulators step up their act we’ll have to keep switching providers to try and locate the best deals.
