Need a New Sony VAIO Battery Urgently

Technology – you can’t beat it when it works. However, let your batteries run out and it is a whole new world of frustration.

I’m currently suffering from a lack of charging with my laptop, meaning that I’m looking to buy a new Sony VAIO battery urgently.

As a reporter, the laptop has become a vital part of my kit. It means I can sit at a football match and upload copy directly to the sports desk in seconds – so much easier than the old days when you had to phone up the copydesk and read your report over the phone.

New York Flights = Holiday Time!

New York, New York – is, according to Jay Z and Alicia Keys at least, a concrete jungle where dreams of!

That recent song and Frank Sinatra’s classic New York, New York show the love and affection that this glorious city attracts and are just two of the reasons I want to visit the Big Apple later this year.

I’ve been looking for cheap New York flights online and hope to have something affordable booked in the coming weeks.

We’re currently looking at a five-day break, possibly in the run up to Christmas when the city will no doubt be very cold but will have a bewitching nature.

Further freelance work means it is time to book Amsterdam flights

My ever-growing freelance writing career is really beginning to soar. After my recent trips to Barcelona and New York, I’ve now just booked cheap Amsterdam flights for an assignment in the summer months.

Obviously, Amsterdam has something of a reputation as a rather, shall we say, ‘liberal city’. However, the aim of my article will be to show that the Netherlands’s capital is a viable destination for these not just attracted to the city’s relaxed attitude to drugs and prostitution!

With attractions such as the Van Gogh Museum, the fascinating Anne Frank House and the NEMO – a science museum in a building that looks like a inking ship – there is really something for everyone.

That culture, coupled with the café culture, relaxing way of life and interesting architecture makes Amsterdam a must in my eyes.

Get your a-levels

As I work in a hugely successful publishing house that boasts offices worldwide, I’m often asked by fresh-faced youngsters how best to get into this sector.

I tend to respond with the simple line: “Stay in school.”

Get your a-levels in some key and obvious subjects – English is a necessity – and opportunities in the media will be open to you.

After school, university must be considered as having a degree makes a real difference when you are job hunting, in fact some companies will view a degree as vital.

One big tip is to undertake work experience during your studies. Most newspapers, magazines and publishing houses

Booking Barcelona Flights for a Freelance Assignment

I’ve taken on an assignment in the past few days to write a travel piece about Barcelona.

It should be an interesting piece. Barcelona is a city that has fascinated me for a long time and, as I start my research, I’m already finding plenty to get me excited about Spain’s capital of culture.

Obviously, I’m not going to get anywhere without booking Barcelona flights which has been surprisingly easy and affordable too.

Next accommodation. Big range of choice here but, since I’ve got to work as much as enjoy myself, I’ve gone for a wee bit of luxury which means a larger room with a desk and wi-fi so I can get on with my assignments.

Planning Stag Weekends in Glasgow

One of my mates is getting married this year and, as usher, I’ve been helping the best man to organise the Stag.

After reading in one of the travel magazines about how popular stag weekends in Glasgow are, we’ve decided to head to Scotland’s largest city for the groom’s last proper weekend!

The web has been a great help in organising the trip, both in terms of research but also in helping us to book companies in Glasgow for when we get there.

So far, the plans include go-karting and paintballing, plus a session on the “booze bus” in the evening.

It’s sure to be a memorable trip – at least, I hope to remember some of it!

Find Top Jobs in the Media

Finding a top job in the media is a difficult task – not helped by many corporations, particularly newspaper publishers, shedding jobs – however, there are some tips to increase your chances.

First off, if you’re applying for a job in which writing is essential – such as a reporter – ensure that your CV and cover letter are error-free. Stupid mistakes see your application promptly consigned to the bin.

Secondly, while the web makes it far easier than before to find job vacancies nationwide it also means more competition. A good tip is to look in your local newspaper as sometimes you can find the perfect job just round the corner!

Good luck!
