Johnston Press Plan More Cuts
It brings no pleasure to report that Johnston Press, one of the UK’s major newspaper publishers, is set to cull more jobs from across its roster of papers.
Johnston Press, who publish the Scotsman and the Yorkshire Evening Post as well as hundreds of local newspapers, have been one of the hardest hit in the recession due to the downturn in local advertising.
As the recession bit, local advertisers cut coasts by going online – especially the mainstays of local newspaper advertising such as used cars dealers and estate agents.
That saw advertising revenues cut drastically, and with the company seemingly clueless as to how to maximise the power of the web they appear to be going knowhere, I mean just look at the Scotsman’s terrible website.
